Iowa Wesleyan College has enrolled the
largest class of freshmen in three decades, according to
enrollment numbers released today. 150 freshmen are enrolled
at the Mount Pleasant campus this fall. Transfer students
accounted for another 108 students enrolling this fall.
Total enrollment is 843, with 636 fulltime
students and another 207 enrolled part-time in day or
evening classes. The number of students living on campus
increased to 428 students, up from 400 last fall.
Iowa Wesleyan continues to lead the region
in the diversity of its students. There are 76 international
students representing 25 countries and students from 27
states.
“The quality and strength of this year’s
freshman class is a strong indicator of the transformation
going on at Iowa Wesleyan College,” said President Jay
Simmons. “Our success in making significant campus facility
improvements, developing new scholarships and improving our
student resources is reaching students and drawing them to
our college.”
Since 2005 more than $10 million has been
invested in new construction and renovation projects on the
Iowa Wesleyan College campus. Nearly $4.5 million in new
endowed funds have helped create scholarships, support
faculty development and improve campus technology and
resources.
